Curtefranca
Curtefranca Bianco
Blend: Chardonnay grapes (minimum 50%), Pinot Noir and Pinot Blanc up to a maximum of 50%.
Tasting notes: Straw yellow colour with greenish highlights and a particularly delicate flavour. Dry, crisp and velvety in the mouth.
Curtefranca DOC Bianco with vineyard mention
Grape varieties: Chardonnay grapes (minimum 50%), Pinot Noir and Pinot Blanc up to a maximum of 50%.
The wines which have been accorded this mention are made from grapes grown in a single vineyard whose name (toponym) – the name of the wine – is registered in the Lombard region’s toponym list.
Obtaining a Curtefranca bianco vineyard mention requires reduced vineyard yields of 9 t/ha, making for high alcohol wines with extract higher on average than Curtefranca bianco. A minimum of three months of bottle ageing is required prior to sale and the wine can be sold only on the 1st of September of the year after harvest.
Curtefranca DOC Rosso
Grape varieties: A minimum of 20% Carmenere and/or Cabernet Franc. Cabernet Sauvignon (10-35%) and Merlot (minimum 25%) are also present. A maximum of 15% of other red grape varieties suitable for vine growing in the Lombard region can also be used in Curtefranca Rosso, with the exception of aromatic varieties
Tasting notes: Bright red with purplish-bright ruby red highlights. Dry, vinous and fruity in the mouth.
Curtefranca DOC Rosso with Vineyard mention
Grape varieties: A minimum of 20% of Carmenere and/or Cabernet Franc. Cabernet Sauvignon (10-35%) and Merlot (minimum 25%) are also present. A maximum of 15% of other red grape varieties suitable for vine growing in the Lombard region can also be used in Curtefranca Rosso, with the exception of aromatic varieties.
Obtaining a Curtefranca Rosso vineyard mention requires reduced vineyard yields of 8 t/ha, making for high alcohol wines with extract higher on average than Curtefranca wines. The regulations require at least 8 months ageing in wood and at least six months in the bottle and the wine can be sold only from the 1st September of the second year after the harvest.
