The municipality of Coccaglio, situated half on the plain and half on the slopes of Monte Orfano, occupies a semi-hilly area on the southern edge of Franciacorta. The perimeter walls of the town, an ancient Roman castrum fortified in the 12th century with castle towers, represent its historical heart.
Viticulture plays an important role in the agricultural sector of the Coccaglio area, which is where Franciacorta DOCG and Curtefranca DOC wines are produced.
On the occasion of the patron saint’s day, dedicated to Saints Maurizio and Giacinto, markets are organised in the squares and along the alleys of the castle, with stalls and sales of local products.
