At 242 metres above sea level Ome has an unusual, cool, clear climate which has something of a
mountain feel about it. Surrounded by vines and woods it is divided up into characteristic districts
by historic names such as Fus, Nas, Martignago and Borbone whose traditional stone houses
stand out.
Borgo del Maglio with its ancient forge – which was still working in the 1980s -is worth a visit for an
up-close view of the history of iron working and its methods, one of Franciacorta’s most
characteristic traditional activities.
