The municipality of Gussago lies in a hilly area near Brescia.
A 15-minute walk from the village centre takes you to La Santissima, an abandoned Dominican convent on the top of Monte Barbisone.
In Gussago, meat skewers are the undisputed star of Brescian trattorias and restaurants, where they are served every day. The dish has been awarded the DE.C.O., or Municipal Designation of Origin.
A popular event is the Grape Festival, a folklore competition between villages, held on the last Sunday in September, with a parade of grape harvest-themed floats.
