The municipality of Corte Franca was created in 1928 from the merger of the hamlets of Borgonato, Colombaro, Nigoline and Timoline.
Excavations for peat extraction in the vicinity of the present-day Peat Bogs Nature Reserve have brought to light Mesolithic and Neolithic relics, such as arrowheads and daggers from the Copper and Iron Ages. Corte Franca features many vineyards and numerous wineries, often family-run, which are mainly dedicated to the production of Franciacorta and to promoting the ‘Made in Italy’ brand abroad.
