The municipality of Rovato is located in the southern part of Franciacorta. Nearby Monte Orfano has always been a place of worship, from the time of the ancient Gallic settlements to the present day; a cross and a semi-circular monument have been erected here in honour of the Alpine soldiers who fell in the war.
Since the Longobard era, the town’s history has been closely intertwined with the tradition and culture of cattle breeding. Since the time of the Doge, there has been evidence of a meat market and events and fairs for cattle, cheese and various goods, as attested by historical documents and archives.
