On November 23, 2017 Franciacorta celebrated the 50th anniversary of being awarded DOC status with an exclusive party held at Residenza Vignale, a prestigious historical home in the centre of Milan. The event concluded festivities that had begun in September conceived to celebrate a crucial moment – the year 1967 – for the development of the denomination and the dawn of a history that wine-growers are still writing today.
It was an anniversary that aimed to celebrate the beginning of the history of the Franciacorta territory. A story with deep symbolic value, expressing the ideas and challenges that the local people wanted to undertake and develop, achieving important goals.
Viticultural development, the determined pursuit of excellence, product quality, elegance, refinement and balance are qualities recognised by wine enthusiasts. At the origin of this result lies the decision of wine-growers who, since the sixties, had believed in Franciacorta’s potential and invested in it in order to promote development linked to the land.
After the welcome speech from Vittorio Moretti, flanked by past presidents of the Franciacorta Consortium attending the party – Riccardo Ricci Curbastro, Claudio Faccoli, Ezio Majolini and Maurizio Zanella – and by Franco Ziliani, all those present were in awe of the unique atmosphere of the rooms and the refined gastronomic array prepared by the Cerea brothers, from the renowned Michelin three-star restaurant Da Vittorio.
A number of show-business stars were also amongst the evening’s guests, such as Barbara D’Urso, Simona Ventura, Francesca Senette, Cristiano Caccamo, Mietta and Lorena Cacciatore.
