From London, where he had moved to for professional reasons, Joska Biondelli thought back to the summers spent on the family estate near Bornato Castle in one of the most beautiful places of Franciacorta. Inside the walled garden of the family estate stands a villa dating back to the 17th century, and next to it, surrounded by vineyards, is an even older farmhouse where grandfather Giuseppe, an Italian ambassador, used to enjoy wine-making. These thoughts returned frequently and soon became increasingly persistent until in 2009 he turned his dream into reality.
Intent on producing Franciacorta DOCG, Biondelli pursued organic certification both in the vineyard and in the cellar, and then immediately banned sugar at both the tirage and disgorging stages.
To complete the hospitality offer, Villa Biondelli has been transformed into a high-class Bed and Breakfast establishment with 11 rooms, a swimming pool and a two-hectare garden.
