Majolini

Located in the upper part of Ome, excavated in rock that was then used to cover the structure, blending it into the almost mountainous landscape, the Majolini winery bears the name of a family that is at one with the land (this is even testified by the name of an indigenous grape variety, maiolina). It was Valentino and his attachment to Ruc di Gnoc, which means ‘stone hill’ in local dialect, a name that says a lot about the nature of the land, who started the winery in modern times. The evolution towards the production of Franciacorta DOCG is due to his four sons, led by Ezio, who was president of the Franciacorta Consortium for several years. This decisive step was taken in 1997, when the small artisan winery was enlarged and all the equipment completely renewed. It had already been designed with environmental sustainability in mind, but over the years would evolve after it was decided to go along the organic route; certification was acquired by both the vineyard and the wine. The third generation of Maiolini vine-growers, cousins Simone and Giovanni, made this choice, giving the company further impetus in its efforts to enhance the special characteristics of Franciacorta DOCG wine, which is made from grapes grown on hillsides that are for the most part terraced.
