Barone Pizzini, with its 54 hectares of vineyards divided into 29 parcels, is one of the oldest wine estates in Franciacorta and the first to produce Franciacorta wine according to certified organic viticulture methods.
“Organic is the means, the end is quality” is what Silvano Brescianini, General Manager and founding partner of Barone Pizzini, often repeats, emphasising that the primary objective of the company is to produce quality wines closely linked to the local area. Hence the decision to follow organic farming methods, which have been instrumental in achieving this goal and are consistent with the attention paid to the land and environment.
The approach to organic farming is cultural, involves decisions and values and is the starting point for a programme of research and innovation. Some of the most important projects completed include a winery built according to green criteria, the carbon footprint, analysis and improvement of biodiversity and the rediscovery of an ancient native grape variety, Erbamat.
