Ronco Calino – Franciacorta

Ronco Calino is in an extraordinary part of Franciacorta, sheltered by a hill on which pianist Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli decided to build a home for himself.
Surrounded by 10 hectares of organic vineyards in the midst of the sounds and colours of nature, this haven of peace was where industrialist and wine-lover Paolo Radici got his inspiration in 1996.
The wine cellars were built at the foot of the house and time seems to stand still here. Care and attention and an ability to wait: these are the preconditions for a Franciacorta whose bywords are authenticity, elegance and longevity. It is Chardonnay which takes centre stage here, but Pinot Nero which has found its ideal home. With the exception of Satèn, in fact, this magnificent grape is there in all the collection’s Franciacorta cuvées, which rest on the lees at Ronco Calino for all the time they need to express their full potential. The sugar dosage is minimal or absent to ensure that it is the wine’s personality which comes out.
The same is true of the estate’s hospitality: Ronco Calino is a wine tourism haven in a contemporary, minimalist space used after a guided visit to the underground wine cellars.
Paolo Radici bade farewell to his beloved Franciacorta on 17 September 2024, twenty-eight years after his first harvest, but his dream lives on with Lara and their staff, who share Paolo’s initial vision and enthusiasm. It is a team of eight players whose average age is 30, perfectly embodying the spirit of a contemporary vibrant, ambitious and impassioned Franciacorta.
