Cooperativa Vitivinicola Cellatica Gussago Soc. Coop. Agricola, founded in 1952, is unique in Franciacorta because it is formed only of small landowners. The vineyards are located in the municipalities of Cellatica, Gussago, Rodengo Saiano and other Franciacorta municipalities near the capital Brescia. The Cooperative’s strong point, in addition to the management of its own plots of land, is the Vineyard Processing and Management Service, which, in order to guarantee product quality, supervises the work of all its members, from the grape harvest in the vineyard to the processing of the must in the cellar, from bottling to distribution.
The name “Cellatica” comes from “Cella” (cellar), as already in the 1500s the area of Cellatica was known for the high quality of the grapes produced thanks above all to the morphology of the land. The altitude, exposure and hardness of the latter create a combination of factors that makes it possible to produce wines of unquestionable rarity. Since 1979, the Cooperative has been one of the first in the area to promote the cultivation of part of their vineyards for the production of Franciacorta wine. This direction, which has continued over time and proved to be a winning decision, culminated in 1994 with admission into the Consortium for the Protection of Franciacorta. Today, the Cooperative offers a complete line of Franciacorta DOCG wines in all its main forms: Brut, Satèn, Millesimato and Riserva Dosaggio Zero.
