The Due Gelsi winery was founded in 1985, when Antonio Belotti bought a plot of land on the first moraine hill of Franciacorta, just above the hamlet of Villa, in the municipality of Erbusco.
The name Due Gelsi (two mulberry trees) derives from the two magnificent, centuries-old mulberry trees, one with white fruits and the other with black, which stand majestically in front of the carefully restored farmhouse.
The bottles of Franciacorta DOCG wine produced by the Due Gelsi winery are only made from a single vintage and after more than 60 months of refermentation on the lees. A reserve version of Sebino IGT Rosso (red) wine is also produced, which is obtained by meticulously selecting the grapes by hand and then carefully transferring the wine to oak barriques.
Another important and renowned company production is the fine Extra Virgin Olive Oil Due Gelsi, obtained only from its own olive trees, which are managed and cultivated in Franciacorta.
Guests and customers at Due Gelsi are treated to short visits to the vineyard and olive grove, followed by guided wine and oil tasting. These tours illustrate the effective techniques of organic farming and, during the tasting stage, the typical qualities of the fine products made.
