The Girolamo Conforti winery was founded in 2014, when a number of winegrowers decided to join forces and start producing Franciacorta wines, and today comprises vineyards spread across 9 municipalities in Franciacorta. This location makes it possible to have grapes from different wine-growing areas and produce different types of Franciacorta wine, according to organic, biodynamic and integrated viticulture principles. The production of the Girolamo Conforti winery is around 25,000 bottles per year.
The project to build this winery was made official with the establishment of Girolamo Conforti s.c.a., named after the Brescian doctor Hieronymi Conforti. With its interwoven narrative of wine, history and culture, one cannot fail to mention that Franciacorta was home to one of the first publications dedicated to the world of oenology, created to illustrate the winemaking technique of natural fermentation in the bottle in use at the time. Written by Hieronymi Conforti and printed in 1570, ‘Libellus de vino mordaci’ (Dissertation on Sparkling Wine) was a manual that anticipated even the Abbot’s insights into wine production.
