The Franciacorta In Cantina Festival was sold out and now Franciacorta flies off to Los Angeles

22 September 2023

This year, too, the Franciacorta in cantina festival was fully sold out with over 25,000 people attending. Back in its former one weekend form again, the festival welcomed in tourists and wine lovers from early Saturday onwards for wine estate visits, vineyard walks, bike tours and creative gourmet tastings. And there were plenty of other events on offer, too, with bus tours leaving this year from Brescia, Bergamo, Milan and Rovato in cultural as well as wine estate tours. This year’s success confirms the event’s status as a not-to-be-missed appointment for wine lovers from all over Italy. In fact bookings came in from various regions of Italy, especially from the north and centre, and from abroad, too.

Many thanks to all the visitors attending this now fixed yearly weekend event with such enthusiasm. For the whole of Franciacorta it is now the most important local event. As Camilla Alberti, President of Strada del Franciacorta said, “Franciacorta’s fan base is growing every year and everyone is increasingly aware of the indissoluble bond between the wine and its terroir. Franciacorta in cantina is the festival which best embodies this partnership”.

A great many young people were present, as were families with children, who took advantage of the great weather to crowd into the wine estates offering various open air activities. And it was not only the wine estates which were all sold out. The area’s hotels, B&Bs and farm holiday hotels were also booked up, as were Strada del Franciacorta’s restaurants and trattorias, which offered Franciacorta pairing menus.

At the same time, after stages in Miami, New York, Nantucket and Chicago, Franciacorta returned to the United States with a series of exclusive events in Los Angeles.

On 15 September a tasting of the various types of Franciacorta paired with characteristic Lombard dishes was held in the exclusive Dal Milanese restaurant. The tasting was led by Silvano Brescianini, President of the Franciacorta Consortium, and Giammario Villa, Franciacorta Brand Ambassador for California. 30 sector journalists, chefs and food and wine experts took part.

On 18 September, Drago Centro, a famous Italian restaurant in downtown Los Angeles, hosted a fine lunch in which the individual dishes were each paired with a different type of Franciacorta. Guests included an important exponent of the Italian consulate in Los Angeles who contributed to creating an unforgettable atmosphere. In this case, too, guests were led through a Franciacorta tasting by Silvano Brescianini and Giammario Villa.

These are just two of the Franciacorta events to be held in Los Angeles. In fact, in expectation of the JanuaryEmmy Awards, whose partner is to be Franciacorta, the consortium joined forces with the Television Academy for a series of events in September and October in the city of angels. These include a Board of Governors Meeting, Peer Group Mixers and Emmys Golf Classic. “Not only does the Emmy partnership guarantee an important presence in the US market, which is growing rapidly for us, but it also offers our wineries great visibility and an exclusive positioning internationally,” says Silvano Brescianini, President of the Franciacorta Consortium.

All these events are opportunities for Franciacorta to promote Italian style and excellence in Los Angeles.
