The Massussi Farm was founded in 1985 by Giuseppina Ruggeri and her husband Vittorio Massussi, with the support of her father Agostino, whose love of the land provided great inspiration in the early years. The farm is located in Iseo, overlooking the lake at 400 metres above sea level. Its vineyards are terraced and produce unique Franciacorta DOCG wines, including Satèn. It has been registered on Special Register of Historic Trademarks of National Interest since 2015 and also produces small quantities of organic extra virgin olive oil.
Vines have been grown on the Massussi farm since the beginning of the 19th century, as evidenced in Napoleonic and Lombard-Venetian historical land registers, making it an established wine-growing area, also in historical terms. The Massussi family’s passion for wine production dates back to the second half of the 19th century, when great-great-grandfather Luigi produced red wine. Thanks to the work and constant commitment to searching for ever higher quality, in 2011 the winery achieved its first important awards and publication on a national scale in guides such as Veronelli and Slow Food.
